Effective Health Collaborative
Effective Health Collaborative (EHC) delivers pragmatic services on contract to governments and health organizations on complex public health system issues. We integrate public health and medical expertise with the insights of community members. The EHC team is customized for each project and each team may include public health physicians, epidemiologists, public health nurses, community members, and others.
Dr. Jasmine Pawa
Public Health Physician and Lead
Dr. Jasmine Pawa is a Public Health and Preventive Medicine specialist physician. She works as a public health physician consultant to a range of public sector organizations and is the Past President of the national specialty society, Public Health Physicians of Canada. She has also provided Medical Officer of Health locum services, particularly in the North of Canada. In addition to medicine and her specialty training in Canada at the University of Alberta and University of Toronto, she obtained a master’s degree in health policy in the UK jointly from LSE and LSHTM. She teaches at both NOSM University and the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. Her professional focus is on health policy and health systems, particularly at the intersection of health care and public health, and she has additional experience in qualitative methods.
Dr. Jennifer Campbell
Public Health Physician
Dr. Jennifer Campbell is a certificant of the College of Family Physicians of Canada. She completed her Doctor of Medicine at the University of Toronto and a Master of Public Health at the University of British Columbia. She is a family physician and provides public health advisory services to various organizations. She has taught at McGill University and the University of Toronto. She also provides physician services to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, previously held an appointment as an Investigating Coroner for Ontario, and has worked as an epidemiologist. Her professional focus is on reducing health inequalities through health systems transformation.
Triti Khorasheh
Project Coordinator
Triti Khorasheh is a public health professional with experience in community-based research, service delivery, and project management at hospital, non-profit, and government agencies. She obtained her Master’s of Public Health from the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. She has led and collaborated on research, knowledge exchange, and program planning in the areas of substance use and patient/community engagement. Triti is passionate about working on projects that equitably engage the living/lived expertise of people, families, and communities in public health research and practice.
Nadine Purdy
Communications and Design
Nadine Purdy is a communications strategist and designer with over 15 years of experience supporting public sector organizations, particularly in northern and remote regions. She brings a unique blend of creative thinking and strategic insight to her work, helping governments and NGOs strengthen engagement, navigate complex communications challenges, and build capacity across diverse communities.
Nadine holds a Bachelor of Design from NSCAD University, a Master’s in Public Relations, and a post-graduate certificate in Health Communications and Aging from Mount Saint Vincent University. Her academic foundation complements her practical experience in strategic communications, graphic design, and leadership.
She continues to work closely with northern governments and physician organizations, contributing to initiatives that span health promotion, stakeholder engagement, and organizational communications. Nadine is also passionate about mentoring emerging professionals in the field.
Ashvini Gahunia
Project Manager
Ashvini Gahunia is a seasoned Project Manager and Quality Assurance Consultant with over a decade of experience optimizing health operations and driving organizational efficiency. She has successfully led large-scale training and implementation initiatives for international health organizations. With a strategic and collaborative leadership style, Ashvini excels in quality systems, process improvement, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring compliance and streamlined workflows. Outside of her professional work, Ashvini is a supportive spouse and parent who actively volunteers in her community and embraces lifelong learning to support education, health, and overall well-being.
Dr. Alyssa Ness
Public Health Physician
Dr. Alyssa Ness is a Public Health and Preventive Medicine specialist physician. She works as a Medical Officer of Health in rural Alberta and is the President of the Public Health Physicians of Canada. She completed her Doctor of Medicine at the University of Alberta and specialty training at the University of Calgary. Her professional focus is exploring and cultivating community and organizational partnerships to address public health needs. In life outside of work, she enjoys weightlifting, and quality time with her husband and daughter.
Melissa Vander Ploeg
Tech Specialist
Melissa is passionate about her work as a Tech Specialist. She has experience in digital product delivery, including course launch tech set-up and marketing funnels/automations, website creation/maintenance, project management, CRM management, and more! Her experience and knowledge builds on her self-starter, resourcefulness, problem solving, and detail-oriented skills. She always comes into a project with a pro-active and positive approach and a commitment to providing a high quality of work. In her spare time, she is balancing family life as a wife and mother to four young children - who she loves spending time with together at their rural family home.
